Bethel Congregational Chapel - Corris Uchaf (1905)

Although there has been no mention in any newspaper of the Revival in this area, yet I do not think it has been left completely destitute. Some services here will be remembered as long as we live. The different denominations here united in this direction. Thanks be for the removal of a great deal of the prejudice which has existed between religious denominations; only the Spirit of God could achieve this. In unity there is strength, and that is where our strength lies too. While we have not had the excitement and the power that other areas have had, yet we are sure that we have received the substance, even though we received it through dew. One thing that is very striking is the honesty of the young people before God and men. However, we have had three unusual services. The first was at Bethel (Congregationalist). There was nothing especial about the first service that evening, but at the beginning of the second service there came a wave, and all who had not been holding a service rushed to place before God their entreaties for forgiveness; old backsliders, and those who had not previously been members, thronging to places of worship to seek a refuge and stronghold for their souls at the rock that does not shift in the surging flood [hymn quotation]. The other service was at Moriah (Wesleyan). This too was a special service. The earnestness of the children praying for their parents to give themselves to Jesus Christ was enough to melt the hardest hearts of the most sinful and thoughtless people. The third service was at Bethania (Calvinistic Methodist). This was a great saving service. Oh! The earnestness found here, children for their parents, and others on behalf of their friends. But despite everything the pair turned their backs on the house [of worship], but one of them came back and I am pleased to say that both have come back by this evening. Thanks be to God for the return of the old harps to give sweeter praise to Him who died to buy us life.

Additional Information

Er nad oes yr un crybwylliad am y Diwygiad ynglyn a'r ardal honi wedi ymddangos mewn un o'r newyddiaduron, eto nid wyf yn meddwl ei bod wedi ei gadael yn hollol amddifad. Y mae yma rai oedfaon nad anghofir tra byddwn ar y ddaear. Y mae y gwahanol enwadau was wedi myned yn un yn y cyfeiriad hwn. Diolch am symud tipyn ar y rhagfarn ,sydd wedi bodoli rhwng enwadau crefyddol; 'does ond Yspryd Duw a all ei symud. Mewn undeb mae nerth, a dyna lle mae ein nerth ninnau yma. Er nad ydym ni wedi cael y cyffroad a'r grymus rwydd fel mae, ardaloedd eraill wedi ei gael, eto yr ydym yn sicr ein bod wedi cael y sylwedd, er mai trwy wlith y cawsom ef. Un peth sydd yn hynod o darawiadol, sef gonestrwydd yr ieuenctyd gerbron Duw a dynion. Ond bu gennym dair oedfa neilltuol. Y gyntaf yn Bethel (A). Nid oedd dim neilltuol yn yr oedfa gyntaf y noson hon. Ond yn nechreu yr ail oedfa dyma don yn dod, a phawb o'r rhai na fu; yn cynhal gwasanaeth am y cyntaf a'u herfyniadau at Dduw am faddeuant; hen wrthgilwyr, a rhai ni fuasant yn aelodu, yn cyrchu at yr addoldai i ymofyn am loches a chadernid i'w hen eidiau yn y graig yr horn ni syfl yn merw lli. Yr oedfa arall yn Moriah (W). Yr oedd hon eto yn oedfa neilltuol. Yr oedd taerineb y plant ar ran eu rhieni nes eu cael i roi eu hunain i Iesu Grist yn ddigon, i doddi calonau caletaf y rhai mwyaf pechadurus ac anystyriol. Ond yr oedfa arall yn Bethania (M.C.). Yr oedd hon yn oedfa fawr mewn achub. O! y taerineb oedd i'w ganfod yma, plant ar ran eu rhieni, a rhai eraill ar ran eu cyfeillion. Ond er y cwbl bu'r ddau gefnu ar y ty, ond fe ddaeth un ohonynt yn ei ol, ac y mae yn dda gennyf ddyweyd fod y ddau wedi dod erbyn heno. I Dduw byddo'r diolch am ddychwelyd yr hen delynau yn ol i fold yn fwy peraidd yr Hwn fu farw er mwyn prynu'n bywyd ni.
