The month of November found the movement spreading to remote districts of the country. In the Island of Lewis and Harris, for example, the awakening was great. The Gaelic school teacher at Steinish reported that he had "commenced an -evening class for adults about the beginning of November, but owing to the awakening in this place and the people attending sermons or prayer meetings every night in the week (except Saturday), I was obliged to discontinue it." The same thing could be said of other places in the same neighbourhood. At Lionel there was "an extraordinary movement, especially among the young," and in Harris "we have here in the Parish of Tarbert of late the appearance of a great awakening."
