Ayr (1862)

The attendance at our meetings is still increasing, it is most encouraging to observe the interest young believers are taking in their Bibles. Mr Forlong, when speaking, always gives them a good many references, and they at once turn them up, some of them having pencil and paper to mark them down, and many of them are manifesting a keen desire to grow in the knowledge of the Word. There have been several hopeful cases of conversion, but I cannot give particulars, not having been here to know them personally.

Mr Forlong left this for Strathaven on Saturday, and we all regret his going away very much. He says he has been much encouraged in his labours amongst us, especially with the converts, and also with his private visitations, as he has good reason to hope that not a few have been brought to the Saviour through those visits.
