James Sillars, a student of the Establishment, has been with us for the last three weeks and engaged every night speaking in the Angle, a large square in the centre of the town, to crowds of people. On Sabbath last he was to have given his farewell address in the open air, at 6 P.M., but the storm had not then ceased, consequently, the people all gathered into the R. P. Church, which was crowded. Mr Inglis, missionary from the New Hebrides, opened the meeting when Mr Sillars delivered one of his earnest addresses for sinners to come to Jesus, and which we have good reason to know was singularly blessed. He then walked down to the centre of the town and addressed a large audience for another hour, and adjourned again to the R. P. Church, with a whole crowd of anxious souls, where he and the other ministers were engaged till half past 11 o'clock, speaking and conversing with them. - Dumfries Standard.
