Besides the meeting in the church there are numerous smaller meetings in the parish. On the evening of Friday, the 15th ult., a meeting was begun at the village, conducted entirely by laymen, with a view to supplicate unitedly the blessing of God on the parish. It was begun with fond hopes, and perhaps some fears 'as to its success; but its originators now wonder, and thank God for what he has done. Drinking and profane swearing, with their attendant vices, are fast disappearing. Some symptoms of outward excitement make their appearance, and a remarkable spirit of inquiry is abroad.
