Having experienced a revival a few years earlier Andrew Bonar's congregation almost all followed him into the Free Church after the Disruption of 1843. He wrote, 'No year n my memory has been more remarkable for awakening of souls here... most of them were awakened in a way that quite proved the Lord's hand without my words.'
