St Mary Magdalen - Thomas Vincent (1660)

This was the church of Thomas Vincent who lost his church under the Act of Uniformity. However, he remained in London during the 1665 Plague, ministering tirelessly to those afflicted. Those ministers who retained their livings under Charles II fled at the first signs of the plague, but several of those who had been removed, remained in London to minister to the sick.

I have read in two places that a revival occurred in London at the time of the plague, but I have not found any detailed account.

Thomas Vincent is the ancestor of Rachel Hickson, one of the nations most gifted prophetic people.

Additional Information

The church was burnt down in 1666 and not re-built. Instead, Honey Lane Market was created.
