In early 1794 there were revivals in parts of Pembrokeshire, Cardiganshire, and Carmarthenshire, particularly along the banks of the Teifi. The church book of Blaen-y-waun noted as follows:
There was great success throughout this neighbourhood and the churches round about, of every persuasion for the most part; but the greatest success among the Baptists was at Blaenywaun. April 6th, 1794, 13 were baptised; May 4th, 24 were baptised; June 1st, 29 were baptised; June 29th, 33 were baptised; July 26th, 26 were baptised; August 24th, 8 were baptised; then 5, then 4, then 1. The total being 143.
