Sawtry - Salvation Army (1870)

We have recently held services at Sawtry. It was at the time of the village feast and for the first two or three meetings, Satan baffled us completely: a few, however, persisted to honour God by faith. So we
worked on until the middle of the week when the power of God came down. Several believers came forward and confessed their littleness of love and backslidings, and, with deep earnestness, consecrated themselves afresh to the service of the Master, and sinners began to cry for mercy. From this time the work went on and during our stay, and since we left, we have reccived precious testimonies of God's power to save.
