A strong revival came to the English Free Church, with much of the island sharing in the blessing. Donald John Martin was the first minister of the new church which was opened in 1878. Martin was a man of prayer, and the revival was birthed in prayer. He felt that God was so in control of the revival, that he just allowed Him to do whatever He wanted to do.
For more information see, ‘Glory in the Glen,’ by Tom Lennie, p266-272, and ‘Sounds from Heaven, by Colin and Mary Peckham, both published by Christian Focus Publications.
There was also a revival there in 1903, see p297 (GIG) and 1921 p310.
