At Sheerness a disreputable part of the town became quite reformed. Drunken sailors and abandoned women not a few were, like their Corinthian prototypes, washed and sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the spirit of our God. The Saviour made these reprobates His own... Out of the three or four hundred persons who at Lady Day would regularly be meeting in class, this description is literally true of a large proportion of them.
